Low Level Radioactive Waste Site Assessments

Low level radioactive waste site assessments performed by Schrack Environmental Consulting, Inc. (SECI) include numerous sites contaminated by low level radioactive waste within the city of Chicago.  SECI conducted detailed site investigations for the Lindsay Light Company location in conjunction with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, to locate and isolate fill materials impacted with radioactive thorium waste. We also prepared Remedial Action Plans outlining the removal and confirmation sampling activities necessary for redevelopment of these thorium impacted sites.

SECI was the lead environmental consulting company in the remediation of the former Olin Chemical Company (former Blockson Chemical) site in Joliet, Illinois. This remedial effort involved the assessment of the entire former manufacturing facility to locate and delineate the extent of residual radium and uranium contamination present on the property. SECI then developed the Remedial Action Plan and performed the actions necessary to allow for development of property.
